Buzau Court
The architect who designed the Buzău Court (1909-1912) also designed the building of the Bucharest City Hall (1910), the Investment Bank of Bucharest (1923), the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest (1935). He is also the author of the Arc de Triomphe project in Bucharest, inaugurated on December 1, 1936.
Dan Dumitru
He was the first Romanian globe-trotter. He went around the world on foot, covering, in 6 years, between 1910 and 1916, 100,000 kilometers, in opinci and in traditional costume. Due to the outbreak of the First World War, Dan Dumitru finished the route only in 1923, receiving the 100,000 francs, which were now greatly devalued, representing only 8% of the amount at the beginning of the competition.
Coroana Hotel
In its construction, a new technique was used for that time, mosaic concrete, with very strong metal reinforcements. The brick was only used for facades. From the beginning, it had the destination of a hotel, and on the ground floor it had commercial spaces. It is said that the walls of the building were shot at by army tanks, but its structure resisted and consequently the demolition was abandoned.
Hasdeu College
Built in 1867, it was initially called "Tudor Vladimirescu" High School until 1875, when it was named "Alexandru Hâjdeu". Since 1932, the institution is called Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu. In 1873 Basil Iorgulescu established the first library in the city here.
Drăgaica Fair
It is known as the oldest fair in the Muntenia area (since the time of Dimitrie Cantemir).
Gloria Buzău Stadium
Sheep races were initially hosted here, in 1904 the first national competition was organized. At the beginning, the arena had modest facilities, however, many lovers of sheep, our national sport, attended the races. In 1922, the local authorities gave the land of the current stadium for the development of a sports base to host the matches of the local football team "Vârtejul", founded in 1919 by the students of the "Alexandru Hâjdeu" High School, the current "Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu" National College.
