The “Woman” Statue

THE "WOMAN" STATUE The work is made by the plastic artist Gheorghe Coman. It was initially located in front of the Buzău County Hospital. Gheorghe Coman, born in 1925 in Ploieşti - died on the 9th of August 2005 in Bucharest, graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest and was the president of the branches of the Union of Plastic Artists in Ploişeti (since 1951) and in Buzău (since 1968). He was the initiator of the Măgura Outdoor Sculpture Camp (held for 16 editions, between 1970-1985). He is also the author of the Obelisk in Crâng Park, erected in 1976, when Buzău celebrated the 1600th anniversary of its first documentary mention. He was awarded several times, in 1976 receiving the Prize of the Union of Plastic Artists from Romania for the bas-relief on the Fountain of Mihai Viteazul in Măgura, Buzău County.
