"MARGARETA STERIAN" ARTS HIGH SCHOOL MOSAIC
The work was made in 2003 by the plastic artist Valeriu Şuşnea, doctor in plastic and decorative arts, teacher at the "Margareta Sterian" Arts High School in Buzău, member and president of the Buzău Branch of the Union of Plastic Artists from Romania.
Valeriu Şuşnea was born on the 6th of March 1960 in Bereşti commune, Galaţi county. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts "Nicolae Grigorescu" in Bucharest in 1984. Since that year he has been present at numerous personal and collective exhibitions in the country and abroad. He worked on the restoration of the Cozia, Voroneţ, Lainici and Pasărea monasteries, at the Roman Bishopric, the "Saints Peter and Paul" church in Brăila and some monuments in Tecuci, Ianca and Valea Cânepii, Brăila county.
Between the years 1995-2011, he founded and managed the Icon Camp for students of the "School of Painters" High School from Poiana Pinului, Buzău County, and in 2004 he founded the Documentation and Creation Camp of the Union of Visual Artists "Măgura Art".
He is the author or co-author of some works of monumental art at the Marine Museum in Constanţa, the National Military Museum in Bucharest, the "Gheorghe Pastia" Theater in Focşani and the Buzău County Hospital. He has works in collections in Romania, England, Belgium, France, the United States of America, and the Republic of Moldova.
He is the laureate of several high-profile artistic events in the country and abroad, and in 2004 he received the Order of "Cultural Merit" in the rank of Knight from the President of Romania.
Since 2005, he has been an Honorary Citizen of the Municipality of Buzău.
