MOSAIC AT THE FORMER "LIFE OF BUZĂU" TYPOGRAPHY
The work was made in 1971 by the plastic artist Ion Minoiu who, through the artistic motifs represented, managed to suggest, plastically, the vocation and typographical tradition of the people of Buzău. The special artistic value of the work is also given by the fact that it is made of ceramic panels.
Ion Minoiu was born in 1931, in Moreni - Dâmbovița, and died on the 8th of February 2020. He graduated from the "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest at the painting department, in 1955. He worked with professors Camil Ressu, Nicolae Darascu, Catul Bogdan, Alexandru Steriadi and Ion Medrea.
He was highly productive in the art of ceramics: he made wall panels, tiles, pendulums, figurines, clocks, tubular tunnels and decorative plates.
As a decorator, he is the author of works of monumental art located in public spaces, such as: the Athene Palace Hotel in Bucharest, the facade of CESAROM Bucharest, the Tomis Restaurant in Mamaia, etc.
He was a titular member of the Painting Section of the Union of Plastic Artists from Romania – Bucharest Branch.
