THE MONUMENT/DOME OF THE GERMAN MILITARIES OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR
Near the mausoleum of the Romanian heroes, a monument was erected, that honours the memory of the German soldiers who died in the battles in the area of Buzău during the First World War. The monument is a hexagon whose columns are joined at the top and it bears an inscription in German. On 28th August 1944, the battles of the Germans with the Soviets and the Romanians began to take place also in the city of Buzău. There were many victims, many sufferers being treated in the Military Hospital located quite close to the Heroes' Church. The deceased were buried with religious services in the Heroes' Cemetery. A commemorative plaque located in the German dome records the fact that 963 German militaries of the Second World War rest here.
