“Life is what you make of it”

"LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT" The work is part of the "Let's raise the mural!" project, which is sustained by the Buzău City Hall and the Alexandru Marghiloman Cultural and Educational Center. The project aims to paint the facades of blocks, schools, kindergartens and high schools in Buzău with contemporary mural art through which to convey positive, educational, ecological messages in a high-quality artistic form, at international standards of street art. The purpose of these paintings is to beautify the overall appearance of the city through these large-scale works of art, painted on facades with increased visibility, while also inspiring passers-by towards positive thinking and creativity. The impact of this type of street art has proven to be very beneficial all over the world, and it is starting to gain momentum in Romania as well, through street art festivals that take place in more and more cities, year after year. The effects of quality urban art are considered important and valuable for the general condition of the inhabitants, and for the education of children, for the overall appearance of a city, and for increasing tourism prospects. The artistic concept of the work "Life is what you make of it!" has as its central message the fact that the unicorn is a mythological creature shrouded in mystery, belonging to the domain of imagination, of the fantastic. The fact that it is made through the art of origami, from pieces of colored paper, suggests that, just as we can do this with our hands, using imagination, industriousness and patience, we can also do this with our very life, which we shape as we dare to dream. The work is an encouragement to aim high and follow our dreams, even if, when we are children, they belong to the realm of the fantastic, just like the unicorn. It was made by Miruna Blănaru and the photoshop sketch by Ilinca Simionescu. Miruna Blănaru is an artist from Buzău, who debuted in contemporary mural art on the occasion of the "Let's raise the mural!" project, initiated by her, and who perseveres in her mission to beautify the city of Buzău through street art works of international artistic quality with positive messages. The work was completed on the 15th of May 2023.
