THE „LION AND ANTELOPE” STATUARY GROUP
In 1896, the statuary groups „Lion and Wild Boar”, „Lion and Deer” and „Horseman attacked by a Lion” were installed in Crâng Park, works by artist Clovis Edmond Masson, poured in cast iron at Kelhauer firm of Bucharest. Clovis Edmond Masson was born in Paris on 7th March 1838 and died in 1913. He was a pupil of the French sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye. He specialised in depicting wild animals, especially giant cats, and he is considered the world’s greatest animal sculptor.
