"SAINT SAVA" CHARITY AND THE "DIONISIE ROMANO" LIBRARY OF RELIGIOUS LITERATURE
The charity for children "Saint Sava" was established on the 12th of April, 1993 by priest Mihail Milea, with the blessing of the Bishopric of Buzău and Vrancea. The charity has been providing social services for the benefit of children, the elderly, the homeless and victims of domestic violence since its inception. The Charity's first social project is called "The social canteen" and consists in offering a hot meal a day to homeless children and adults. At the same time, the Charity provides two free of charge summer camps for underprivileged children: in the mountains of Buzău, in the town of Bisoca, and in the Danube Delta, in the commune of Maliuc (in Tulcea county).
For elderly people who were abandoned or who cannot take care of themselves, four settlements were established in the localities Ulmeni, Câpmeni, Năeni and Robeasca, where accommodation, food, care and medical assistance are offered to these people in need.
Since 2012, in the commune of Baba Ana, Prahova county, a center for hosting homeless adults has been operating.
In Năeni commune, Buzău county, there was raised a Dacian village whose inhabitants dress, eat and live like the Dacians of old. So far, a Dacian wedding and the baptism of the first inhabitant of this village, whose name is Decebalus, have been organized in the Dacian village.
From a cultural and educational point of view, at the Charity’s headquarters there is an after-school, a professional training center that offers accredited tailoring courses and the "Dionisie Romano" library of religious literature, a branch of the "Vasile Voiculescu" County Library in Buzău.
