„THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT”
Work made within the international sculpture symposium of Buzău, „Memory of Water”, 1st edition, 1st – 31st July 2022. Regarding this work, the author, Bogdan Adrian Lefter said: „In popular culture, the concept of the butterfly effect is used as a metaphor to underline the significance of tiny events that can generate major events. The iconic image of a butterfly flapping its wings over water and how this flapping from a simple breeze-wave can generate and cause a typhoon in another part of the world.
The monumental sculpture ” Butterfly Effect” is simply meant to demonstrate that small, insignificant events can have non-linear effects with significant and unpredictable results over time. In other words related to the memory of water, small ripples, vibrations or variations in water can have profound and widely divergent effects over time on the circuit of life in nature. Life is a chaotic system, unpredictable by its very nature, varied with the unexpected results of our actions. Through the fan-like structure with sinuous lines and planes that interconnect and support each other in a fragile balance, I have suggested the flight of a butterfly’s wings like ripples on the surface of a body of water. Most things in nature tend to be the result of many interconnected and interdependent cause-effect relationships. The energies and vibrations of our actions, however insignificant, echo through time. One fact we don’t pay attention to is that our every gesture and action shapes our future.” Bogdan Adrian Lefter was born on 1st March 1983 in Buzău, where he attended „Margareta Sterian” Art High School and he is a graduate of the National University of Arts of Bucharest, class of 2006, Metal specialization, university assistant and Doctor in Visual Arts. He has made numerous monumental sculptures in renowned international symposiums in countries such as Armenia, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Egypt, Switzerland, Italy, Iran, Japan, Romania, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. Among the monuments in the country, the monument „Homage” (2013), a phantasmagorical 11 meters high stainless steel equestrian in Buzău and the monument „Corneliu Coposu” (2017), an oversized bronze bust in Corneliu Coposu Square of Bucharest distinguish themselves. He has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, winning numerous awards and distinctions such as: in 2010 „Prize for Sculpture” at the National Biennial „Ion Andreescu” or in 2015 „Prize for Excellence in Sculpture” at the 1st edition of the International Sculpture Symposium in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam.
