MARGHILOMAN PALACE CROSS
The Marghiloman Palace Cross is located within the Marghiloman ensemble, about 60 meters from the lake and 20 meters from Marghiloman Wall. It is made of stone and included in the National Archaeological Register (RAN), code 44827.12, as a cult/religious structure, dated to the end of the medieval era (1777). Silent witnesses of history, the stone crosses standing by the side of the roads or on the private properties of the locals, have passed through the ages and remained a place of honour in the local community. They are the expression of the innate human desire to do in such a way that the memory of man’s passing on earth remain eternal in this world, under the protection of divinity, often accompanied by the much more worldly zeal to show off at a cross, near a fountain or near a border, places with high visibility, feats of those that deserve the praise of peers or, simply, the handshake of the sponsors.
