BARRACKS OF THE 7TH ARTILLERY REGIMENT/47TH BUZAU TRANSMISSIONS BATTALION
The current barracks of the 47th Transmission Regiment originally belonged to the 7th Artillery Regiment, established on 1st April 1883 in Focşani and moved in 1893 to Buzău. The 7th Buzău Artillery Regiment distinguished itself in the campaigns of the Second Balkan War, the War of National Integration, in Pasul Bratocea, in Dobrogea, in the defense of Bucharest and, in the summer of 1917, on Valea Siretului. In the summer of 1918, after the remobilization of the Romanian army, the 7th Artillery Regiment was deployed in Bessarabia, on the lower line of the Dniester, where it would secure the border until September 1921. In the Second World War, the 7th Buzău Artillery Regiment fought in Bessarabia, Odessa and the Don’s Bend, and in the West Campaign it acted under the 5th Division until the end of 1944. Currently, the 47th Transmission Battalion „General Nicolae Peterescu” is stationed in the barracks of the former 7th Artillery Regiment. It was established on 1st April 1932, under the name of the 3rd Transmission Regiment, based in Braşov garrison, the first commander being Lieutenant-Colonel Nicolae Petrescu. In 1933 he was moved to Cluj garrison, and on 1st September 1940, as a result of Vienna Diktat, he was deployed to Râmnicu Vâlcea, and shortly after to Deva. The regiment participated, with equipment and manpower, during the Second World War, to carry out transmissions on the Eastern Front, later on the Western Front. 38 officers, 183 NCOs and 237 soldiers of the regiment were decorated with Romanian and foreign orders and medals. In October 1951, the unit was moved to Buzău garrison, in the current barracks. In 1980 the unit was subordinated to the 2nd Army. Currently, the „General Nicolae Petrescu” 47th Transmission Battalion is subordinate to the „Getica” 2nd Infantry Division.
