ȘTEFAN VENCOV HOUSE
Ştefan Vencov (1899 –1955) was a physicist, university teacher and academician. He studied at the "Alexandru Hâjdeu" High School in Buzău and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Bucharest. In 1930 he received his doctorate at the University of Paris.
He was part of the teaching staff and rector of the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest, university professor at the Oil and Gas Institute of Bucharest, corresponding member (1949) and member of the Romanian Academy (1952).
He had an important contribution to the initiation and development of optics and spectroscopy research in Romania. He conducted research on gas discharges, molecular spectroscopy and infrared photography.
