STAN SĂRARU HOUSE
Stan Săraru (1898 – 1985) graduated from „Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” National High School and then from Faculty of Law of University of Bucharest. He was a lawyer at Buzău Bar (1923-1943), mayor’s assistant and mayor of Buzău from November 1933 to December 1937. He was a member of the National Liberal Party. From 1951 he was a legal adviser at the Bucharest Regional People’s Council. As the mayor of Buzău, he carried out several construction works of utmost importance for the city: the main agri-food market, today called „Avocat Stan Săraru” Central Market, the communal bathroom, the first sewage project in the city center, street paving in Poşta and Mihai Viteazul, including their supply with water and regeneration of Crâng Park, the construction of a modern slaughterhouse and a public bath. He was a combatant in the Second World War, in the East Campaign, and he was imprisoned several times in the communist prisons at Jilava and Aiud or in the labor colonies at Catelul-Medgidia and Capu Midia.
