LEON LEONIDA HOUSE
Leon Leonida was born on 16th June 1882 in Buzău. He attended primary school in Buzău, and high school in Bucharest and Iasi. He graduated from Faculty of Law of Bucharest. In 1903 he bought a modern Mercedes car from Paris, being considered the first Romanian owner of a car. After a few years, he founded Leonida car trading company and the first vehicle repair shop in Romania, as well as the first professional driving school. He was the main founder of the Romanian Automobile Club. Together with George Valentin Bibescu, he traveled by car to Iran. He died in 1911 in a traffic accident (the first fatal car accident in Romania), in Braşov, due to a malfunction in the driveshaft. He was buried in Dumbrava Cemetery in Buzău.
