General Gheorghe Spirescu House

GENERAL GHEORGHE SPIRESCU HOUSE General Gheorghe Spirescu (1862 – 1933), a graduate of Military School of infantry, Engineering and Navy, was the commander of the 7th Buzău Artillery Regiment in the period 1911-1914. He commanded the regiment in the Bulgarian Campaign in 1913. In 1914, he was promoted to general and appointed to the command of the 5th Buzău Artillery Brigade, with which he continued to participate in the campaigns of the War of National Integration (1916 – 1919). He was the initiator of the construction of the Military Circle in Buzău. He died in 1933, being buried with full military honors in Dumbrava cemetery. In the house where General Gheorghe Spirescu lived, a kindergarten operates today.
