Dumitru Fotescu House

DUMITRU FOTESCU HOUSE The house was built in 1898 and belonged to the civil servant Dumitru Fotescu. His son, General Dumitru Fotescu (1898–1990), graduated from the "Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu" high school in Buzău (1948) and the Military Artillery School (1949). After graduating, with a diploma of merit, from the courses of the Dzerzhinsky Military Artillery Academy in the USSR, he occupied, for several years, important positions in the Artillery Command, and from January 1970 he was chief of staff of the 2nd and 1st Romanian Army. From 1985 he was head of the National Economy Works Directorate, until 1988, when he retired.
