VALERIU TRANDAF HOUSE
Trandaf Valeriu, lawyer, politician, was vice-dean of Buzău Bar Association (1937-1939), former prefect of Buzău County (1930-1931) and mayor of the city, from January 1939 to June 1940. He is the author of the brochure “Muncă şi gând pentru propăşirea oraşului Buzău” [Work and thought for the progress of the city of Buzău] (1940). In 1928 he registered the publication „Brazda”, semi-official publication of the County Organization of Buzau National Peasant Party, and in 1930 he edited „Sfatul Ţaranilor”. In 1933 he was a deputy, being among the lawyers in parliament from Buzău. As mayor: he revised the systematization plan of the city by aligning Carol I (Independenţei) Street, widening and aligning Episcopiei Street and modernizing Cuza Vodă Street; he was president of the Management Committee of the Communal Enterprises, established on 11th October 1938; member of the Board of Directors of the Company „Băile Comunale S.A.”; he ordered the establishment of the Sanitation Commission of the city of Buzău and so on. Regarding the brochure “Muncă şi gând pentru propăşirea oraşului Buzău” ” [Work and thought for the progress of the city of Buzău] whose author he is, among other information we find the following: the area of the city – 2027 ha. and 7460 sq. m. of which built-up area – 630 ha; until 1925, the built-up area was 519 ha; streets in length of 91 km and 748 l. m., of which 5 km and 270 l. m., modernized road (4.378 km King Carol II national road, former Unirii and 892 l.m. streets); 60.974 km paved with cobblestones; 5.818 km covered with gravel and 19.696 km.
