“Assumption of the Virgin Mary” Church – Broșteni

"Assumption of the Virgin Mary" CHURCH - BROȘTENI "Assumption of the Virgin Mary" Church of Broșteni was built in 1711 by Captain Caloian, an important merchant and ruler of Buzău, and dedicated to the monastery of Dusico in the Diocese of Tricala (Greece). The church is located between the former Iaz al Morilor and Buzău river, where the town's vegetable gardens used to be. The painting of the church was executed in 1892 by Dimitrie Nicoleanu, rebuilt several times by painters Șolescu (1910), Titel Benea (1951), Zemliska (1970), N. Tabacu (1982), Liliana and Jenică Enache (1995). Broșteni church ensemble (the church dedicated to "Assumption of the Virgin Mary" and the bell tower) is included on the list of historical monuments (BZ-II-a-A-02320).
