Mills Pond (Iazul Morilor)

IAZUL MORILOR ( MILLS POND) Iazul Morilor, an ancient branch of the Buzău River, was documented in 1525. It can be said that this water source was an ancient and authentic socio-economic development engine for the city of Buzău for many hundreds of years. The area it crosses is recognized as a powerful vegetable basin, which supported the city economically and took its fame beyond the borders of Buzău. The "Iazul Morilor" Park, whose main point of attraction are two lakes and a water mill, reconstructed according to old images of the area, was a cherished investment of the Buzău City Hall and was inaugurated in 2021, in the presence of hundreds of Buzău residents. On the premises of the water mill, a building with minimalist architecture, highly appreciated by specialists, a literary cafe and exhibition spaces were set up, offering the possibility of various cultural activities. On the occasion of the inauguration of the Iazul Morilor project, the authorities also launched a reference book about the history of Buzău called "Iazul Morilor - Cradle of the Civilization of Buzău", with the authors Dr. Marius-Adrian Nicoară, Doctor Costel Vînătoru and Valeriu Nicolescu.
