HOMAGE
The work is dedicated to artist Octavian Florinel Dinu, an employee of „Rotec Group” of Buzău, the management of the company wishing to pay homage to the memory of a model employee who passed away after a cruel illness. The image could be of a „horseman” who reminds us of the modern version of Don Quixote or Saint George, who aims his spear not at the dragon but at the eye on one of the faces of the cube at the base of the statue. The other faces of the cube also contain different messages. The meaning of the work is that of man’s struggle with the various obstacles he encounters throughout his life in order to polish his soul and gain a shred of immortality. It is one of the most imposing works of art made of stainless steel, in the last 20 years, in Romanian contemporary art, a creation with dimensions of 10 meters x 6 meters x 6 meters, a sculptural ensemble unique in the world by its complexity. The work was created in 2013, based on the sketches of the honoured artist, by his colleague, the artist Bogdan Adrian Lefter of Buzău and it is located in the roundabout at the entrance to the Orizont district (north of Buzău, at the exit to Focșani). It was financed and donated to the community by the businessman Nicu Dinu of Buzău.
