PHARMACY – FORMER CODLEA FLOWER SHOP
In this area there was the building where the first public apothecary (pharmacy) in Buzău operated (1838), the „Golden Eagle”, which later became the „White Eagle”. Its owners were Mathias Boraskay (1838-1870), Adalbert Kordetzki (1870-1871), George Felmer (1871-1872), Adolf Weber (1872-1911), Vicentiu (Roman) Livocski (1911-1912), Sava Gerota ( 1912-1941) and then his children Dumitru and Paraschiva. After nationalization (June 1948) it functioned as State Pharmacy No. 1 of Buzău, but for a short time, because the building was demolished, and a block of flats was built in its place. On its ground floor, a jewelry store and watchmaker’s shop operated for a while, later being replaced by the famous central flower shop Codlea, which disappeared after the Revolution of December 1989.
